Preliminary results from the Lauder site of the Total Carbon Column Observing Network TCCON

چکیده
We give a brief description of the Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON), a new network of ground-based Fourier Transform spectrometers (FTS) dedicated to measurement of greenhouse gas absorption (CO2, CO, N2O, CH4) in the near infrared. We present preliminary retrievals of CO2 total column densities from the TCCON site in Lauder, New Zealand between July 2004 – when routine measurements began – and April 2005, and compare these retrievals with in-situ CO2 measurements from the monitoring station at Baring Head, New Zealand. A discussion of how we plan to compare the ground-based FTS retrievals with in-situ surface observations and greenhouse gas retrievals from satellite radiances follows.

Calibration of the Total Carbon Column Observing Network using aircraft profile data
The Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) produces precise measurements of the column average dry-air mole fractions of CO2, CO, CH4, N2O and H2O at a variety of sites worldwide. These observations rely on spectroscopic parameters that are not known with sufficient accuracy to compute total columns that can be used in combination with in situ measurements. The TCCON must therefore be ca...

A global network of ground-based Fourier transform spectrometers has been founded to remotely measure column abundances of CO(2), CO, CH(4), N(2)O and other molecules that absorb in the near-infrared. These measurements are directly comparable with the near-infrared total column measurements from space-based instruments. With stringent requirements on the instrumentation, acquisition procedures...

This paper examines the sensitivity and results for a new product, CO2, from existing data from solar-observing Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) spectrometer at NyÅlesund, Spitsbergen. This instrument is part of a world-wide Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Composition Change (NDACC), which has collected data since 1978. The sensitivity and results are compared to a newer network desig...

The Total Carbon Column Observing Network (TCCON) is a global network dedicated to the precise and accurate measurements of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. The TCCON station in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines was established with the primary purpose of validating the upcoming Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite-2 (GOSAT-2) mission and in general, to respond to the need for reliable...
متن کاملA method for evaluating bias in global measurements of CO2 total columns from space
We describe a method of evaluating systematic errors in measurements of total column dry-air mole fractions of CO2 (XCO2) from space, and we illustrate the method by applying it to the v2.8 Atmospheric CO2 Observations from Space retrievals of the Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (ACOS-GOSAT) measurements over land. The approach exploits the lack of large gradients in XCO2 south of 25S to i...
